Travel Arrangements: San Francisco

The first gathering is scheduled to take place in February 23-26, 2017 in San Francisco. We are thrilled to announce that the first conference of the International Community of Artist-Scholars (ICAS) will be sponsored by Hostelling International (HI), a nonprofit, member organization founded on an enduring belief in the power of travel in order to foster a deeper understanding of people, places, and the world around. Following our own trajectory of research and art practice HI USA promotes a dynamic community of global citizens who have the wisdom and humanity to actively make the world a better place. Priding themselves in breaking down stereotypes, we will use the hostel environment and the local community of San Francisco as inspiration to our own endeavor to overcome institutionalized stereotypes. During the conference, all participating artist-scholars will be part of a 4-6h collaborative community project through which we will connect with the local residents of San Francisco’s Tenderloin/Financial District.
